Božični okraski iz slanega testa / Salty dough Christmas ornaments

⎨SI⎬ Par desetletij nazaj sem okraske iz slanega testa izdelovala v vrtcu in letos je ta tehnika pokukala na plano skupaj z mojima otrokom, s katerima smo se letos lotili izdelovanja okraskov. Seveda sta onadva imela svoje modelčke, jaz pa sem dobila navdih, da naredim okraske v mojem stilu, ki bi jih z veseljem obesila na smrečico ali pa jih navezala na darilca, ter z njimi pustila na njih prav poseben pečat.

Zameslila sem dvojno testo in dobili smo kar en lep izkupiček obeskov. Mislim, da sem bila na koncu celo jaz bolj navdušena, kot onadva.

Pod fotografijami vas čaka recept in še par nasvetov. Je pa slano testo zelo hvaležno, se ne packa in ne lomi, kot se kdaj piškotno, zato je to res prava ustvarjalna terapija.

⎨EN⎬ A couple of decades ago – in kindergarten, we were making ornaments from salty dough and this year this technique came up again with my kids. Of course, they both had their own models, and I was inspired to make ornaments in my style, which I’ll be happy to hang on Christmas tree or tie it to a gifts.

I prepared double amount of the dough and we got quite many decorastions out. I think in the end I was more excited than the kids.

Below the photos you will find a recipe and a few tips. However, the salt dough is very thankful, it does not crack and it’s not sticky like a cookie dough, so this is really a real creative therapy.

Recept za slano testo

Sestavine

  • 300 g gladke, bele moke
  • 300 g soli
  • 200 ml vode
  • 1 žlica olja

Priprava

  1. Sestavine zmešamo z mešalnikom.
  2. Z rokami oblikujemo hlebček.
  3. Vzamemo manjši kos testa, ga razvaljamo in po želji oblikujemo v okraske.
  4. Lahko se poigravamo z oblikami (uporabimo lahko modelčke za piškote) z odtisi vzorcev (piškotni žigi, čipkasto blago, …) ali pa odkrijemo kakšno čisto svojo tehniko.
  5. Okraske položimo na pekač, obložen s peki papirjem.
  6. Pečemo v pečici, ventilatorska nastavitev, na 100 stopinj, 2-3 ure*.

*V večini receptov je predpisana krajša peka na večih stopinjah. Ta nam lahko okraske po nepotrebnem napihne ali ukrivi.

NE POZABITE narediti luknjic, če želite okraske kasneje obestiti. Naredite malenkost večjo luknjico, saj se bo testo malenkost raztegnilo v pečici.

Salty dough recipe

Ingredients

  • 300 g flour
  • 300 g salt
  • 200 ml water
  • 1 tbsp oil

Preparation

  1. Mix the ingredients with a mixer.
  2. Shape the loaf with hands.
  3. Take a small piece of dough, roll it out and create ornaments by your inspiration.
  4. You can play with shapes (use cookie cutters) with pattern prints (cookie stamps, lace fabric, …) or you can discover your own technique.
  5. Place the decorations on a baking tray, lined with baking paper.
  6. Bake in the oven, fan setting, at 100 degrees, 2-3 hours *.

* Most recipes have shorter baking time at higher degrees. This can unnecessarily inflate or curve our ornaments.

DON’T FORGET to make holes if you want to hang the ornaments later. Make a slightly larger hole as the dough will stretch slightly in the oven.
